Nature-Based Feminine Wisdom is not a product of business education. It is a style of leading – and a way of being – that overflows from a fully integrated heart, mind, body, soul, and spirit. Nature-Based Feminine Wisdom is not something you do, it is who you are when you are sitting all alone in the dark.
The quality of our leadership is in direct proportion to the organic unfolding of our entire being. Every woman has a unique tapestry of nature-based feminine principles that she weaves into her leadership style and yet I believe there are five essential qualities every Nature-Based Feminine Leader embodies: the Feminine Principle, Alignment, Creativity, Soul, and Nature.
The Feminine Principle is rooted in all that is life-giving, nurturing, receptive, and affirming. It is our birthright as women to conceive, gestate and birth new life into the world through our desire and creativity. It is through the Feminine Principle that whatever and whomever we behold becomes more fully alive and authentic. Our attention and appreciation make life all around us grow to its full potential.
The tap root of the Feminine Principle is alignment with joy. At the core of our feminine nature is a longing to embody our deepest desires and to know our joy overflows, nourishes, excites, and arouses those around us to become more fully themselves. We long to experience a life in which we are filled with passion and an intuitive sense that we are the “perfect woman, doing the perfect thing, at the perfect time, for the perfect reasons.” In order to experience this kind of existential joy, we need to be fully rested and renewed in both body and soul. True alignment is only possible when we ground our lives in joy and root them in rest and renewal.
The greatest art is living authentically, which means every woman is an artist sculpting the clay of her life through her creativity and life choices. A Nature-Based Feminine Leader does this consciously through taking inspired action and following the wisdom of the present moment. She pays attention to how life is emerging in response to her inspired action. She is in a deep and eternal dialogue with the creative muses and how life wants to unfold organically and creatively.
From a soul-centric perspective, a woman’s real work on Earth is not intended to feel like work at all. Our real work is meant to be an embodiment and extension of our soul made visible in the world; as such it is effortless, joy-filled, and life giving. Following the voice of soul as our primary guide in how we craft our vocations is essential if we are to bring beauty, love and joy into the world through our leadership gifts and talents.
Nature is not an intellectual abstraction or theory to contemplate from behind our desks. It is a living embodiment of life force and a physical, palpable presence that invites us to get out of our heads and into our bodies on a daily basis. The more vital and physically alive we are, and the more time we spend in Nature, the more potent our life force and leadership.
These five nature-based feminine leadership principles form an integrated whole that weaves our bodies, minds, hearts, souls, and spirits into an embodied and integrity infused leadership style that is in service of the Sacred Feminine and the restoration of Nature.
